There are two ways to perform buttock augmentation, the first one is by liposuction and infiltration of
that fat with a special preparation on the buttocks. The advantage is that it is a fat grafting of the
patients own body, therefore rejection doesn't exist. This procedure gives good volume, contour and
projection of the buttocks, it's safe and it has the advantage of helping the body contour with the
liposuction.
The second procedure is with implants of silicone gel inserted through a incision of 6cm in the
intergluteal cleft, a pocket is done in each buttock, the implants are placed, the incision is closed
with stitches.
The time of this procedure takes about 3 hours for the liposuction with lipo-infiltration and 1:30 hour
for the placement of the implants. Whenever there is enough fat to do the infiltration, the first option
should be considered. The candidates for this surgery are those men and women that wish to lift,
augment and define their buttocks.
The anesthesia is epidural and sedation or general anesthesia for the first procedure and epidural
block for the second procedure. It is ambulatory for both surgeries and the recovery time can be from
7 to 10 days.
